Who is Eligible for TRS Plan 3

Teachers first hired before July 1, 2007, have the option to transfer to TRS Plan 3.

Teachers who were hired into an eligible position on or after July 1, 2007 have 90 days from date of hire to make a choice of Plan 2 or Plan 3 membership.^*

*If a court of law decides the repeal of gain sharing is invalid, new members hired after the court decision will be mandated into plan 3. See Gain Sharing.
